The third edition of the Plan B FM Inter-Community Soccer Gala will be held from August 17 to September 8, 2024, at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema Newtown.

This annual event aims to foster community spirit and promote peace through football.

The tournament will feature 32 teams from various communities, each competing for top honours in a format designed to showcase local talent and enhance community relations.

Matches will consist of two halves, each lasting 35 minutes, with five substitutions allowed per team.

The tournament’s coach and technical director, Leonard Morgan, praised Plan B FM for elevating local football. He urged players to maintain discipline and dedication, which are crucial for success in their football careers.

Dr Martin Asare-Aniagyei, Chairman of FreeMinds Communications Limited, reflected on previous editions’ success and emphasised the tournament’s long-term benefits, including exposure to scouts seeking talent across Africa.

He underscored football’s role in promoting a healthy lifestyle and instilling values such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

The tournament will offer a range of prizes, including gold medals, a trophy, and cash for the winning team; silver medals, a trophy, and money for the runners-up; and bronze medals and a cash prize for the third-place team. All 32 participating teams will also receive consolation gifts.

International scout and coach Emmanuel Aidoo highlighted the tournament’s opportunities for past participants and encouraged current players to demonstrate their best performance.

Kudjoe Fianoo, Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association, committed to supporting the tournament by providing a prize for the best players and footballs for the event.

He called on the media to further support football tournaments to bolster the sector.

Additionally, James Enu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Aspirant for Tema West, contributed financial support and footballs to help make the tournament successful.

This year’s gala promises to build on the success of previous events, with a strong focus on community engagement and development through football.
