Wahab Amadu, a self-styled activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch in Tafo, in the Eastern Region has been stripped naked of dappled moves to defame the Region?s Executive Director for the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) Dr. Frank Amoah.

Wahab, a former security officer, according to CRIG Management was among five staffs that had been reposted to other branches, as part of its annual normal routine.
Those reposted included the Accounts Manager, Audit Manager, and the Security Manager.

According to sources, Wahab with ill-feelings over his reposting to the Wantram Plantation in the Western Region, promised heaven and earth to ?do all he can? to tarnish the image of CRIG, under the management of Dr. Frank Amoah, as a ?pay- back ?

To gain the attention of the media, Wahab switched tactics by playing along as a strong member of the ruling NDC, and in the process caught the attention of the Daily Post Newspaper.

As part of his diabolic moves, Wahab fabricated stories among others, that fertilizers meant to be shared freely among cocoa farmers in the area, together with some machines and woods from the Institute?s Plantation were stolen by the CRIG boss.

He also blamed CRIG?s management of negligence in the case where a young man who was ?physically and mentally challenged committed suicide in a Well, constructed within the premises of CRIG.

Setting the records straight

When Journalists thronged Tafo yesterday, the NDC?s Constituency Chairman for the area Francis Addo-Quaye, and his other executives hinted Wahab was not a member of their Party , and that he (Wahab) was known in the area for similar mudslinging agendas, and however advised the media to ignore him.

?we don?t know him as a member of our party?during the 2012 elections, he was only among the few boys who rooted to vote ?skirt and blouse??.they campaigned for Victor Smith (NDC) for the parliamentary and campaigned Nana Addo (NPP) for the presidential slot.? He added

Bishop Kabutey, the Public Relations Officer for CRIG, also led reporters to the scene where the suicide was committed, and the height of the constructed Well was recorded as about 5-6 ft from the ground, and under lock.

He further explained, that the Well was under lock ?but the young man, since he wanted to end his life, force-opened it and jumped into it?.and however, it would be unfair to blame the suicide mission of that young man on the negligence of CRIG?.

Debunking allegations on stealing fertilizers

Recounting on allegations of stealing fertilizers that were meant to be shared freely among Cocoa farmers in the area, the CRIG?s P.R. O said the Institution had never given out fertilizers to farmers for free. ?there are two types of fertilizers, one is the ammonium Sulphate, which has been approved by parliament for a coffee rehabilitation project?. and there is even a list of coffee farmers who were given freely of those fertilizers and not cocoa farmers.?

He further explained that the Executive Director initiated a move to access the impact of the Institution?s recommendations to cocoa farmers in and around Tafo , and as a result arranged some fertilizers to be sold to the farmers ,?but even that, the supplying of those fertilizers was never done for free?. He noted.

Stealing woods

Mr. Bishop Kabutey further schooled the media that ?cocoa research is located in a forest area and because of that anytime there is any scientific plot we cut down trees?normally we seek permission from the forestry department and because the workers at times need some of the trees, management decided to sell them to its staff, we even have records of those staff we sell the woods to, the staff is made up from the position of the director to the last laborer and it would be wrong to accuse the Director of stealing anything.?

Stolen Machines
Journalists were also led to take pictures of those machines the Daily Post Newspaper sought to claim had been stolen, and this reporter can however, confirm on authority that all the five machines were actively in their positions.
