The People’s National Convention (PNC) has announced the conclusion of its nomination and filing process, paving the way for the vetting of candidates ahead of Saturday’s Congress.
The party’s Congress Committee has scheduled the vetting for Thursday and Friday. Seventeen aspirants have filed to contest various positions.
According to a statement from the Congress Committee, the candidates will be divided into two groups for the vetting process.
The first group will be assessed from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the second group will undergo vetting during the same hours on Friday.
Notable candidates include Bernard Anbataayela Mornah and David Apasera, who are competing for the position of flagbearer.
For the Chairmanship role, Hajia Hajara Ali and Asaki Awingobit will face the vetting committee.
In the race for General Secretary, Awudu Ishak and Yakubu Fahrudeen have submitted their forms.
Abass Nuhu and Daniel Nii Noi Osekine will contend for the position of national organizer, which will involve mobilizing the party’s grassroots.
Christiana Fugah and Esther Osei are vying for the women’s Organiser position, while Mark Ewusi Arko and Alidu Mohammed Nasirdeen compete for the Youth Organiser role. Emmanuel Akazabre is the sole candidate for Treasurer.
Several candidates are running for deputy positions: Martin Anafo and Eugene Tamado Koffikan Bashiru are contesting for Vice Chairman, Prince K. Agyeman-Duah for Assistant Secretary, Saeed Abdallah for Assistant Organizer, and Narrita Mary Logah for Deputy Women’s Organizer.
The Congress Committee anticipated a transparent, democratic vetting process that would lead to the party’s national congress and shape its leadership for the upcoming term.
