David Apasera and Bernard Anbataayela Mornah are set to compete for the party’s presidential nomination.
Incumbent Deputy General Secretary Yakubu Faharudeen is facing a challenge from Awudu Ishaq for the General Secretary role.
Abass Nuhu is campaigning to retain his position as National Organizer, with Nii Noi Osekan as his opponent.
Additionally, two candidates are vying for the National Women’s Organiser position.
After their vetting, both Apasera and Mornah expressed confidence. Apasera highlighted the need for unity within the party to fulfil his vision, which he believes has been hindered by previous internal conflicts.
Mornah proposed eliminating ex-gratia payments for Members of Parliament if elected, criticizing the practice as an exploitation of public funds.
Samson Asaki Awingobit, who is running for National Chairman, promised to address perceived failures of the current leadership and re-brand the party to enhance its appeal.
For the General Secretary position, candidates stressed the importance of updating the party’s constitution to better align with its current objectives.
The PNC is scheduled to hold its congress on August 31, where delegates will vote on these critical positions and set the direction for the party’s future.
