Speaking at a briefing with journalists last weekend, in Akure, the state capital, Mr. Eke asked all residents to continue with their private and business activities uninterrupted, with guarantee that security officers are on red alert.
He said the state police is working closely with other sister security agencies of government, and maintaining a proper synergy, to nip it in the bud, the nefarious activities of kidnappers who are now threatening border towns.
?We are always on red alert. It?s all about intelligence. There is no need for residence to exhibit fear. We have put in place security measures that would nip in the bud the issue of kidnapping in Ondo state?, he said.
Eke added that more security officers would be deployed in various divisions to intensify patrols in flashpoint areas of the state, remarking that all the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) have been put on notice.
The Police commissioner noted that the public has the sole responsibility and duty to report lawbreakers to security agencies, and pleaded with the residents to help police as they strive to boost security in the state.
Eke also assured that no one would be intimidated or victimised for reporting criminals or wrong doers to the police.
He warned unrepentant criminals in the state, saying that their days are numbered and would soon be caught with the long daggers of the law.
