Dr. Vanderpuije ? Accra Mayor

Even though the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has ordered Political parties to remove all posters, banners, sign boards, and bill boards used during the campaign season, the parties are yet to comply with the directive.

Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Mayor of Accra in a statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) stated categorically that all political parties should have their advertising materials removed by Monday, December 17.

According to the AMA boss those advertising material located on the roads, intersections and street corners acted as an obstruction and did not augur well for the healthy nature of the city.

However, a visit by the GNA to some roads from Ablekuma West through Ablekuma South revealed that the materals were yet to be removed.

Giant bill boards belonging to the various political parties, especially the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are still in place. The Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), the Peoples National Convention (PNC) and the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) also have their billboards and posters yet to be removed.

Attempts by the GNA to speak to Nuumo Blafo, Public Relations Officer of  AMA over the issue were unsuccessful.
