However, Kester Aburam Korankye, aide to the Klottey Korle MP confirmed that Nii Armah Ashietey is contesting this year’s election as an independent candidate. He said preparations are already under way for Nii Armah Ashietey to pick up nomination forms. “Hon is still shocked by how the party has treated him because he has been with the party since its inception, however he has the interest of the people at heart and will always abide by the decisions of the people he represent” he added that Nii Armah Ashietey has the intentions of contesting the elections solely because of the call on him by many of his supporters and party executives in the constituency.

Mr. Aburam Korankye explained, “Most of the constituency executives are already having problems with the NDC’s candidate for the constituency and are calling on Nii Armah Ashietey to contest because they believe he is the only one who can retain their interest and that is retaining the seat. Most of them complain that Zanetor Rawligns is likely to loose the seat to the opposition because she does not have cordial relationship with most of the executives who were with her during the primaries and has failed to organize the party in the constituency ahead of the elections”. He added.
