The Power Mission Church International (PMCI) on Wednesday undertook a clean-up exercise at Dzodze in the Ketu East of Volta Region.
The residents also received pamphlets and educational materials on healthy environment from the church.
Apostle-General Emmanuel Astiko, General Overseer of PMCI asked the people to keep their environment clean and reminded them that; ?cleanliness is next to Godliness?.
The General Overseer said: ?Constant clean-ups of this kind will prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and eliminate malaria, since filth and pollution are natural hazards.?
He stated that similar programmes had been designed for the rest of the branches to help keep their communities clean.
Apostle-General Astiko urged other churches and organisations to work hard to ensure a clean environment.
He said PMCI would continue to create public awareness on the negative effect of filth on the environment.
He appealed to Ghanaians to support activities aimed at keeping the environment clean.
He said PMCI would collaborate with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to organise seminars to sensitise the public on the importance of clean environment to national development.
The General Overseer said the church has contacted the National Board for Small Scale Industries to organise workshops on cottage industries for the congregation.
