In his 2024 Founders’ Day address, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo underscored the significant progress Ghana has made in various sectors since gaining independence in 1957.

Reflecting on Ghana’s journey from post-independence turbulence to current achievements, Akufo-Addo praised the nation’s economic advancements, education, infrastructure, and other vital areas.

“After the initial turbulent decades following our independence, we have witnessed remarkable changes,” he said.

“Our economy has grown, our infrastructure has improved, and our society has become more inclusive.”

The President highlighted the strides made in governance, healthcare, and technology, attributing the economic growth to Ghanaians’ resilience and entrepreneurial spirit.

“Despite the difficult economic conditions we are rapidly overcoming, our social services are functioning well, businesses are thriving, industries are expanding, agriculture is performing strongly, and our global trade relationships are strengthening,” Akufo-Addo stated.

He emphasized that progress results from hard work, innovation, and policies that have fostered a conducive environment for development. Concluding his address, President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to continue building on this momentum.

“As we celebrate Founders’ Day, let us recognize the importance of maintaining this momentum and creating opportunities for all.

It is a time to honour those who contributed to our freedom and independence while looking forward to a future of continued growth and prosperity,” he said.

Akufo-Addo’s remarks celebrate Ghana’s achievements and encourage ongoing efforts to ensure sustained progress and inclusivity.
