Ex-President Rawlings has indicated that he disagrees with Policy think tank IMANI Ghana?s opinion that President Mahama?s Independence Day Address lacked pointed measures to address the crisis facing the nation and wasn?t inspiring.
According to IMANI, President Mahama?s address did not propose any real solution to the numerous problems confronting the country. The Vice President of IMANI Ghana, Kofi Bentil indicated in an interview that the President delivered his address as though he was taking Ghanaians for granted.
?I didn?t hear anything particularly inspiring; I didn?t hear anything about the real issues that we are facing, the real solutions of the issues that we are confronted with.
I am worried about the quality of leadership that we have now, there must be some real seriousness in dealing with the issues that we are confronted with,? he said
In a reaction, former President Jerry John Rawlings indicated that the president?s independence day address was one of the finest in the history of Ghana. When asked if the President missed any important issue in his address, he had this to say;
?The president captured it all in his speech and I think we should pay attention to everything,? Rawlings indicated
