Actor Prince David Osei has called on Ghanaians to reject the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Addressing the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto launch in Takoradi, Osei argued that electing the NDC and Mahama would lead to economic decline and instability.
Osei criticized Mahama’s previous presidency for economic mismanagement and corruption, asserting that voting for the NDC would be a step backwards.
“The alternative is not the solution; it will send us into an abyss of disaster. Vote for progress.
Vote Bawumia, vote Matthew Opoku Prempeh,” Osei said, expressing his strong support for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In response, Dr. Bawumia defended the NPP’s record, claiming it significantly surpasses the NDC’s.
At the same event, Bawumia highlighted the NPP administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and digital transformation.
He cited initiatives such as the Free Senior High School policy, the One District One Factory policy, and the digitalization of public services as evidence of the party’s commitment to improving Ghanaian lives.
“Our track record is superior to that of my opponent,” Bawumia declared. He addressed the economic challenges faced during his tenure, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and rising inflation, and praised the NPP’s resilience and ongoing efforts to address these issues.
Despite these difficulties, he pointed to improvements in economic indicators as proof of the party’s effective governance.
Bawumia criticized the NDC for failing to fulfil promises made during its office, particularly regarding power shortages and economic stability.
He urged NPP supporters to highlight the party’s achievements and stay united in their campaign efforts.
“The choice we are presenting to you, the Ghanaian voter on December 7, is about the courage and confidence to implement a vision for Ghana and a clear roadmap to getting the work done,” Bawumia said, encouraging party members to focus on securing victory in the upcoming elections.
