A second Republic Senator and prominent member of Ebonyi state Founding Fathers Forum, Dr Offia Nwali has urged the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu to withdraw from the state governorship race.
It will be recalled that Prof Chukwu had been adopted by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside other major stakeholders of the party from the three geo-political zones of Ebonyi State as the consensus governorship candidate of the party ahead of the 2015 general election.
Chukwu?s endorsement followed a closed door stakeholders? meeting of Ebonyi North and Central senatorial zones convened by the leader of the party, Governor Martin Elechi at the Government House, Abakaliki.
However, Dr Nwali said the adoption of Chukwu as the consensus candidate was not free and fair during the adoption.
According to him, the machinery of government was made available to pilot the adoption because it was believed that whatever the governor, Chief Martin Elechi says remains sacrosanct.
