Symphony Limited, a licensed mining firm, has denied reports that Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, was serving on the management team of the company.

“We want to state categorically that, the Minister is not a management member of Symphony,” Mr. Francis Asafu Agyei, the Spokesperson told the media in Kumasi, stressing that, he was also not linked in any way to their activities.

He said the company found it difficult to come to terms with some attempts by some people to associate the Minister with the company, and called for circumspection, especially amongst the media in their reportage relating to the company’s activities.

Mr. Asafu Agyei said in 2009, the company underwent all the necessary processes and procedures for it to be duly licensed to operate at the Japekrom and Drobo Traditional Areas in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

However, the company, he said, was yet to even undertake any mining activity within the said areas, now under a dawn-to-dusk curfew due to chieftaincy conflicts.

“Owing to the prevailing circumstances, we have halted all activities relating to prospecting in those areas for corporate reasons,” he stated.

He said at no point in time had the Minister been associated with the company, saying he has no stake in their activities.
