Prophet Adom Kyei Duah, founder and leader of the Believers Worship Centre, has encouraged Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, to pursue what he described as his “testimony” as he prepares for the upcoming general elections.
The prophet made the appeal during a visit by Bawumia and his team to his sanctuary, seeking blessings ahead of the December 7, 2024 election.
The visit, which took place in a reverent and anticipatory atmosphere, saw Prophet Adom Kyei Duah offer prayers for Bawumia, who is vying to succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo. While the prophet did not explicitly endorse Bawumia’s candidacy, his words were interpreted by many as a form of spiritual encouragement, lending a sense of divine assurance to the NPP leader.
“Your testimony is ahead of you,” Prophet Adom Kyei Duah said with calm conviction, addressing Bawumia directly. “Seek it, and let the will of God prevail in all you do.” The prophetic statement, though not an overt endorsement, has sparked significant discussion among political observers.
Known for his neutral stance in Ghana’s political landscape, Prophet Adom Kyei Duah has welcomed figures from various political parties, including former President John Dramani Mahama. However, his message to Bawumia was notably more direct, leading many to view it as tacit support for the NPP flagbearer’s presidential ambitions.
In Ghana, where politics and religion are often intertwined, visits to spiritual leaders, prayer sessions, and prophetic declarations play an important role in the political process. These moments provide candidates with an opportunity to align themselves with the country’s spiritual heritage, while also connecting with the religious electorate ahead of elections.
