Mr Isaac Sam, Exhibition Officer of the Electoral Commission (EC), at Kasoa in the Central Region, said on Monday that there is public apathy in the patronage of the exhibition of the Voters? Register.

wpid-Electoral20Commission20Logo.pngThe exercise is meant for the public to check their data in the register to enable the EC to purge it for future elections.

He said so far only 40 people have so far checked their names and other details since the

voters register was opened at the Roman Catholic polling centre in the past four days at Kasoa.

He also blamed the inertia on insufficient publicity on the exercise.

Mr Sam, urged voters to proceed to the centre and check their names in their own

Interest in order to exercise their franchise in subsequent elections.

The Ghana news Agency (GNA) was established on March 5, 1957, i.e. on the eve of Ghana's independence and charged with the "dissemination of truthful unbiased news". It was the first news agency to be established in Sub-Saharan Africa. GNA was part of a comprehensive communication policy that sought to harness the information arm of the state to build a viable, united and cohesive nation-state. GNA has therefore been operating in the unique role of mobilizing the citizens for nation building, economic and social development, national unity and integration.
