Public workers in Osun State divided over ongoing strike

Osun workers divided over industrial action

Public workers in Osun State are currently divided over the ongoing strike embarked upon over the delayed/non-payment of salaries by the state government.

While a segment of the workers strongly believe that the strike should proceed, others, especially the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN),Osun State Chapter, feels a modification is needed on the strike.

JUSUN members in the state had joined their counterpart across the nation in the industrial action earlier this year to press home their demand for financial autonomy of the Judiciary arm of government.

The leadership of the judiciary workers in the state called a congress after meeting with government to brief their members on the outcome of the meeting and the agreement reached over their demand for financial autonomy.

The congress, almost erupted into chaos, following a statement made by the Vice-President Southwest of JUSUN, Comrade JeliliObisesan.

It took the intervention of the state chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, ?Comrade Jacob Adekomi, to calm frayed nerves.?
