Private Universities Students? Association of Ghana (PUSAG) has partnered with UniBank Ghana to launch its 8th annual Games and Entertainment Festival to promote cordial relationship between member institutions.
Mr Mohammed Adams Sukparu, the National President of PUSAG over the weekend said at a press conference in Accra that the games also aims at developing sportsmen and women in the country.
He said the games, which would include volleyball, football, javelin throw, table tennis, long tennis, athletics and performance of Artistes would be held from March 23 to 27, 2015.
Mr Sukparu said the Association offers the youth the opportunity to acquire skills in various areas that would empower them to make a difference in their communities as students.
?Having taken notice of the issue of students in the private institutions, the Association proposes to organize programmes that will empower students to bring out their talents to promote nation building?, he said.
He also noted that significant roles of sports in the development of most countries cannot be overemphasized and Ghana is of no exception to the tremendous benefits accrued to its citizens through sports.
The President expressed the Association?s profound gratitude to UniBank Ghana for its support as the title and main sponsor to the Association?s annual games from the year 2015 to 2019.
?The massive footprint already made by UniBank has gone from being the title sponsor for the Black Stars for the past World Cup to being the lead sponsor for this annual event.
?Communicating the worth and contribution by UniBank would require long pages and a series of episodes?.
Mr Jerry Afful, the Senior Relationship Manager, Corporate Banking, UniBank, said the Bank decided to support the initiative due to the benefits the event would bring to those involved and the nation at large.
?The students are future leaders and some would definitely make the nation proud when it comes to sports in the future?.
He said UniBank cares for the youth and sports and so management could not disregard proposals by the Association, hence the support.
