Former Barcelona star Xavi Hernandez believes Qatar are putting in the necessary preparation to host the perfect World Cup in 2022.

The Arab state remain resolute in their preparations towards the staging of the world?s biggest football event in seven-years away from now despite clear attempts mainly from the west to discredit their hosting ambitions.

Xavi was last week unveiled as a new signing for leading Qatari club Al Sadd where he also assumes the responsibility of being an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup.

The former Spain international is already thrilled with the significant progress being made by Qatar to host the world in 2022.

?It?s an ideal project for me. The three different components came together perfectly for my family and me,? Xavi said of his move to Al Sadd.

?For one there is the possibility here at Al Sadd to continue winning trophies, to try and do our best to win the league and the cup and compete well in the Asian Champions League.

?Then there is the fantastic project at Aspire where my professional formation will continue, and finally to be an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup in?Qatar?is something that is very exciting.?

Qatar are carefully raising infrastructure for the World Cup with proximity at their heart of their plan to ensure that the excessive travels by teams during the tournament are limited.

And this, Xavi believes will serve competing clubs well alongside the fact that the tournament is being moved to November-December.

?Previously we had to travel to matches the day before,? he added referring to previous World Cup experiences.

?Here the fact that you don?t have to travel long distances is an advantage.

?I also think that playing in November and December will allow players to reach the tournament in the best possible conditions.

?There are also stadiums already employing air-conditioning, so I think the conditions are here to make this World Cup a great success. It will be a benefit for the players.?
