Former President Jerry John Rawlings has called for the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the acts of violence that plagued the Talensi constituency by-election.
He said news of the situation in Talensi was a matter of grave concern and the law enforcement agencies should act with dispatch to apprehend all those known to have participated in the acts of violence, assault, shooting and vandalism.
?A strong message has to be sent to person?s intent on institutionalising violence, especially during election periods, and the security agencies should enforce the law without fear or favour and without any political bias whatsoever,? the former President said in a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday.
Reports from Talensi indicate that there was incidence of violence including firing of ammunition leading to the hospitalisation of some victims and the destruction of vehicles.
