Reformers Ladies win bronze at Africa Cup for Club Championship

The female hockey team of the Ghana Prisons Service, Reformers Ladies, won bronze medal in the 2021 Africa Club Championship Cup after a 4-3 penalty shootout against their Nigerian counterpart’s , Plateau Queens at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.

The match ended 1-1 after the fourth quarter before traveling to the spot kicks.

Captain of the Plateau Queens Susan Bulus scored the first goal of the game in the first quarter.

As pressure mounted on the Plateau defence, Georgina Sam of the Reformers Ladies was able to capitalize and score an equalizer to send the game to a penalty shootout. It was all joy for the supporters at the hockey pitch for the Ghanaian side to pick the bronze medal.

Mrs. Nandir Dashe, Head Coach of Plateau Queens said she was saddened by the result of the game as her team struggled to get to the medal zone but failed to grab the medal.

Coach Samuel Akpene Agbelie was delighted that his players had come this far, considering it being their first tournament and assured fans that his team will come back next year even better.
