In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Regis Philbin — who is turning 85 this summer — admits he misses having his own daily talk show and that he still keeps in touch with producer Michael Gelman.
“Some mornings, I’ll wake up and want to share something interesting or weigh in on some of the day’s big news,” Regis shares with Closer. “Then I realize, I don’t have a [daily] talk show anymore! I gotta learn it’s gone.”
These days, Regis keeps busy as a contributor on the fourth hour of Today (reuniting him with pal Kathie Lee Gifford), touring with Don Rickles and spending time with his grandkids.
“Grandkids inspire your life,” Regis tells Closer. “They’re amazing. I think I’m pretty good as a grandfather, if you ask me!”
