The National President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has urged northern Muslim clerics, traditional rulers and political leaders of the Islamic faith to initiate dialogue with the Boko Haram sect in order to find a lasting solution to the insecurity in the country.
Oritsejafor, who spoke during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the association in Makurdi yesterday, said the solution to insurgency in the country lies with Muslim leaders.
?The solution lies in the hands of our Muslim clerics as well as their traditional and political leaders. They should interact with Boko Haram. It is a matter of ideology, they should make Boko Haram understand the proper interpretation of the Quran through superior arguments. That may convince them to lay down their arms and stop the senseless killings in the country. There are still Muslim clerics that these people listen to; let these people engage them with superior arguments to dissuade them from their practice,? he said.
He also called on governments at all levels to ensure that rising cases of child abuse in the country is properly addressed.
