3 journalists were killed when a truck ran into the governor’s convoy
A member of the House of Representatives representing the Epe constituency, Lagos, Lanre Odubote, on Monday expressed condolences over the killing of three journalists in the convoy of Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.
Odubote, one time Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Speaker, prayed that God would comfort the governor, the families of the deceased and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
In a condolence message to Oshiomhole, he said, “I am deeply saddened by the losses. Words cannot really ease the losses you bear. Accept my deepest sympathies on the death of my colleagues and the unquantifiable losses to Edo, Nigeria and the journalism profession.”
He also urged Oshiomhole to set aside funds for the training and upkeep of the children and wives of the deceased.
“Public-spirited people, corporate organisations and the NUJ should contribute to the fund to help mitigate the losses and restore hope to the families,” Odubote said.
It will be recalled that the three journalists died when a truck ran into Oshiomhole’s convoy.
The governor, who spoke to journalists shortly after the incident, said he would not allow it to weaken his administration.
