Reverend Canon Patrick Okaijah-Bortier, Parish Priest of the Christ the King Anglican Church at Sakumono, has said God through the Resurrection of Jesus has overcome death and given new life to Christians all over the world.
He said the Resurrection of Jesus was a testimony to the resurrection of human beings, which is a basic tenet of the Christian faith.
The Parish Priest made these remarks in a sermon to mark Easter Sunday at the Christ the King Anglican Church at Sakumono, near Tema, on the theme: ?Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life?.
Speaking on the relevance of the Resurrection, Canon Okaija-Bortier indicated that it was a triumphant and glorious victory for all believers, adding that in man?s limitations and sinful ways, he is guaranteed eternally new life.
Reflecting upon what the world would be like if Jesus Christ hadn?t resurrected, he said ?death would have been the greatest enemy of man, as Christ died so that man could overcome this enemy and be afforded a new life?
According to him, even with life?s temporal challenges, the Resurrection of Jesus gives Christians firmer foothold to heaven through salvation.
Canon Okaija-Bortier urged Christians to focus on hope and stay true to the tenets of their Christian faith, and prayed for the over 140 students who were gunned down in a Kenyan University.
