Speaking after the emergency meeting, acting secretary general of the TUC, Dr. Yaw Baah said organized labour expects the technical working group formed by government to submit its final report and recommend a reduction in water tariffs.

?This meeting is to endorse that earlier statement that the nationwide strike which was scheduled for 18th November which is the coming Monday has been called off. The statement came out on Sunday and sections of organized labour were not happy about why the TUC did not meet before so we are meeting to rectify or endorse the statement,? Mr. Baah said.

The decision by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) to call off the planned November 18th nationwide strike and demonstration has drawn serious criticism from some labour unions.
