At least three people were confirmed killed on Sunday following a road accident involving a truck and a tricycle in the southern part of Nigeria.
The accident occurred along the Mgbuka-Nkpor road in Onitsha, a city in the southeastern state of Anambra, said the Federal Road Safety Corps.
Another person was injured as the driver of the truck lost control and rammed into the commercial tricycle which was carrying three passengers, said Andrew Kumapayi, head of road safety police in the state.
An early investigation has so far revealed that the truck driver lost control due to brake failure, Kumapayi said, adding that further investigation would be carried out in due course.
Deadly road accidents are frequently reported in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, bad condition of roads and reckless driving. Enditem
