Rosneft says its RN-Exploration subsidiary, in partnership with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Mozambique Offshore, has been awarded three blocks under Mozambique’s fifth license round.

After evaluating 23 proposals from various consortia, The Instituto Nacional de Petróleo (INP) awarded Rosneft and ExxonMobil the A5-B contract area in the Angoche basin and contract areas Z5-C and Z5-D in the Zambezi Delta.

Once the blocks have been ratified, the partnership will begin negotiations with the government of the Republic of Mozambique and INP on the detailed terms of participation. Thereafter, ExxonMobil will become the operator.

Rosneft and ExxonMobil also work together at the Sakhalin-1 project offshore eastern Russia.
