The Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central (RRC), has donated assorted items worth GH₡ 5,000.00 to the Kressner Handmaids Orphanage in Kojo-Ashong, a suburb of Accra.
The club also donated exercise books, toiletries, used clothing, and a variety of toys.

In addition to the various items donated, RRC also presented a cheque for GH₡ 2, 000.00 to the officials of the home to help in the management of the facility.

Mr Laud Ashon, President of RRC, who made the presentation on behalf of the club, stated that the regular visit to the orphanage is part of a social responsibility to respond to the needs of the less privileged in the society.

He said the regular visits that the club undertakes are also aimed at supporting the children, and reminding them that they are a priority to RRC.

“There is the need to make the less privileged feel at home and always know that people care for them. So we are here today to put smiles on the faces of the children at the Kressner orphanage, and we want to ensure that they indeed have a merry Christmas,” he said.

Mr Ashon assured officials of the home and the children that RRC would continue to support the orphanage.

Mr Tony Asare, Service Project Director, RRC, speaking to the Ghana News Agency observed that the Club had had a special relationship with the Kressner Orphanage for the past five years.

He stated that apart from offering material support to the children and the home in general, RRC has also supported in paying the school fees of the inmates.

Reverend Sister Helen Tay, the Sister in charge of the Orphanage, thanked RRC for the support and appealed to other benevolent people as well as the public to emulate the kind gesture.
