Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has officially announced the dissolution of the iconic music group PSquare for the second time, revealing the split stems from irreconcilable creative disparities and personal disagreements.

This decision, while necessary, is not without its share of regret.

In an exclusive interview with City FM, Lagos, Rudeboy clarified that the decision was not precipitated by his alleged remarks belittling his brother Peter’s role as a dancer rather than a singer in the group.

He asserted that Peter privately expressed disinterest in continuing with PSquare, opting not to disclose this decision publicly.

“We had different visions for our music. I wanted us to share creative responsibilities equally.

The plan was for our reunion to produce numerous hit albums, but now I’m focusing solely on Rudeboy,” he disclosed.

Addressing misconceptions about their roles within PSquare, Rudeboy reflected on past incidents and collaborations, including their track ‘Eja Jo’ with T.I., which he felt did not resonate with fans accustomed to PSquare’s signature sound.

“When we reunited, I encouraged Peter to showcase his talents and participate equally in the creative process to avoid past conflicts. However, it didn’t resolve our differences,” Rudeboy explained.

Expressing frustration over the inability to reach a consensus, Rudeboy emphasized Peter’s decision to quit the group despite his initial reluctance to make it public. He made it clear that he respects Peter’s decision, even if it was a difficult one.

He voiced concerns about potential misinterpretations once he pursues a solo career, emphasizing the need for clarity on their separation.

“I want to set the record straight before speculation spreads. I respect Peter’s decision but felt compelled to speak out,” Rudeboy concluded, highlighting the complexities behind PSquare’s breakup and his unwavering determination to move forward independently.
