Russian deputy prime minister discuss bilateral cooperation with Angolan president

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev discussed Monday in Luanda with Angolan President Joao Lourenco on bilateral relations between the two states.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, Trutnev said they discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation, mainly in the military, agriculture, mining and telecommunications fields.

The Russian official confirmed the launch in December of Angola’s AngoSat-1 satellite, built by the Russian Space and Missile Energy Corporation.

Concerning trade between the two countries, Trutnev said that trade have tripled in the period 2016/2017.

During his stay in Luanda, Trutnev also met with senior officials of the Angolan government and of public companies, including the diamond state companies Endiama and Sodiam.

The two countries have developed ties of cooperation relations, especially in the fields of defense and security, mining, fisheries, transport, education, telecommunications, among others. Enditem
