Rwanda’s Minister of Justice and the Attorney General, Johnston Busingye Thursday described the latest report by Human Rights Watch as fake, which said petty crime suspects are summarily executed in the east African country.
“My response to Human Rights Watch report: It is clearly fake. Human Rights Watch is so desperate for attention. They have been duped, yet again, wilfully,” he said on his tweeter handle.
The report released earlier on Thursday said state security forces in Rwanda have summarily killed at least 37 suspected petty offenders and forcibly disappeared four others since April 2016.
Busingye suggested the compilers of the report were childish.
“It’s high time these organizations grew up and became professional or quit human rights business.
“Rwanda will continue to tell her own story, as befits Rwandans,” he said.
