Rwandan national dies from gunshot wounds in Zambian capital

A Rwandese national has died of gunshot wounds inflicted by criminals who shot at him in his shop in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, police said on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Rwandese national sustained a deep cut on the back of the head on Tuesday night this week when armed criminals stormed his shop in one of the city’s densely populated slums, Kanyama, where they also stole undisclosed amounts of money.

Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata-Katongo said the Rwandese national, who was admitted to a local hospital, died on December 29.

Police have since launched investigations, she added.

The Zambian capital has witnessed an increased number of Rwandese nationals who were running successful businesses.

In December last year, a Rwandese national died after criminals shot him in another part of the Zambian capital. Enditem
