The selection has been ongoing for the last two months. Sixteen models have so far been selected from previous auditions in Musanze and Rubavu. The Kigali auditions will take place today and tomorrow, October 3-4, at Mount Kenya University.

Next will be Huye, and finally Nyagatare. The finals are slated for November 6.

Organised by Kigali Fashion Week?s John Munyeshuri, the event?s aim is to make models shine and earn a living out of their careers.

?Events like Kigali Fashion Week largely sell designers yet it is models that showcase their (designers?) outfits,? says Munyeshuri. ?It?s time to appreciate the role of models in the fashion industry.?

Out of the 30 models to be selected from across the country, 10 will be selected for the boot camp. They will be trained by specialists from Kenya, Canada, Uganda, South Africa and Rwanda. The 20 will still have an opportunity to showcase designs on November 6.

The winner will atomically qualify for Africa?s Next Top Model and will also participate in the International Fashion Week.

Besides that, she will represent Rwanda at the Commonwealth Fashion Week in London, and will also have a one-year contract with a Canadian modeling agency. The 2nd will become face of a Polish company that deals in cosmetics. GK, an American company, will also provide hair products to the winners for one year.
