The electoral observation mission of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) said on Friday that the Namibian presidential and parliamentary elections on Wednesday were largely peaceful, orderly and managed within the legal framework.

Announcing the regional bloc’s findings of the pre-election and election period, Zimbabwean Minister of Defence and War Veterans Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said except for a few mishaps, the electoral process in Namibia met the satisfying levels expected under the SADC election guidelines.

The observation mission “had 58 observers deployed across the country,” she said. “The election environment was largely peaceful and without any incidences of violence.” Enditem
