The Southern African Development Community (SADC) on Friday praised the Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe for his resignation and contribution to the region.
The SADC Executive Secretary Stergomena Lawrence Tax in a statement hailed Mugabe’s resignation as a demonstration of true statesmanship, while praising Mugabe’s contribution to Zimbabwe’s liberation to the regional body’s formation.
“Since its formation, SADC has benefited and valued the contribution of President Mugabe, as a true champion of Pan-Africanism, and in the promotion of regional co-operation, development and integration,” said Tax.
He also said SADC will work with Zimbabwe’s incoming president, government and Zimbabwean people. “SADC is confident that Zimbabweans will remain committed to the development of their country.” Enditem
