Save Our Land
Save Our Land

I am extremely happy to share my latest traditional poem ‘Save Our Land with you’. Inspired by the current crisis Ghana is going through. Hope it finds you well…be the first reader.

Save Our Land

I stand in the middle of the Agora?Save Our Land
With a heavy heart
I come naked with sack of cowries under my armpit
With bottles of schnapps in my hand
I have come to call on our ancestors

I call on the gods of our land
I call on the gods of my father
I call on the gods of my father?s father
Come and have a drink
Togbevi, drink and feel your belly
For our land is sick and our leaders blind

Save Our Land
Save Our Land

I call on the gods of our past heroes
Come and save your pride
Come and restore the heritage of our land
Our land is perishing under the watch of our very own eyes
Yet we are feeble to rescue it

I call on Papagah
The brave warrior that scared the lion with his fierce look
I call on the great hunter KADI
You who led us with boldness and courage
Come and have a drink
Come and restore calm in our land
Since you gave the stool to Fofogah
The whole village has been turned upside down
Return and restore our land to its befitting place
Your sons and daughters are perishing
Mamavi, Kojovi, Doevi and Doegah
are happy to welcome you from your distant journey
We wait in absolute silence for your arrival
So come back to royalty

I call on our fore fathers
Those that went to sleep
To listen to our plea
Nkrumah, Lumumba, Mandela, Ayi Kushie, Mansa Musa, Askia the great
Issah Kanjaga, the unsung hero of village
Come and have a drink
Come and wipe the tears on our face

Our land is sick
Our leaders are confused
Our problems compounding
So I stand in the middle of the Agora
Naked and barefooted
Calling on our ancestors
To come and have a drink
To come and save our beloved town
For our leaders are alive yet asleep
