Information DAILY GUIDE has gathered indicates that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, was on Monday denied access to the campus of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) at Tarkwa in the Western Region.

Dr Bawumia was billed to address the students of the university at a students’ forum as part of his visit to the region.

He was, however, reportedly prevented by the authorities of the university from holding the forum on the campus.

Dr Bawumia has been touring some tertiary institutions nationwide to preach the NPP’s message of change in the run-up to the November polls.

Sources from the school’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC) indicated that he had been given the green light to be at the event and had earlier held a series of meetings with the university authorities.

The students were only told upon Dr Bawumia’s arrival that there was an error in their arrangements and therefore the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana could not be allowed access to the
campus.

Dr Bawumia had faced a similar experience in some parts of the country’s tertiary institutions.

The NPP has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of orchestrating the rejections just to frustrate Dr Bawumia’s campaign.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the Catholic Church at Tarkwa later offered its facility to Dr Bawumia to use for the forum.
