The chief of Nankpanduri David Kansuk ,has accused the Police in his area of not helping to calm down tempers as fighting between Kokombas and Bemobas rears it head again.
Latest reports gathered by Happy News indicate that tension is escalating in Kpanyili, a village near Nankpanduri in the Northern region following fighting between Kokombas and Bemobas there.
Eye witnesses say several houses have been set ablaze and there are exchanges of gun fire.
Residents are said to be fleeing to neighbouring towns.
The clashes are said to have been sparked by a land dispute.
There are no reports of casualties yet, but some residents who were spoken to say they fear for their lives.
Speaking in an interview with Happy News, Nankpanduri David Kansuk indicated that if the Police fails to come to their resuce, the feud might escalate to something nastier.
“They are burning houses and the Police have taken cover. So we need to adequate help otherwise Nyankpanduri will fall” He said
“The Police are just folding their arms. The Kokombas are in their numbers with sophisticated weapons.
Sounding frightened and in panic, he called on re-enforcement in the area.
“Please, please, let the security agents come to our rescue”.
