The Management, staff and students of Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Asanta in the the Ellembele District ,has donated assorted items worth ghc7000 to the Egyam children home under the Sekondi Takoradi Catholic diocese.
The items include biscuits, bathing soaps, rice, beans, tomato paste, palm oil, vegetable cooking oil, diapers, milk and baby wipes among others.
Madam Ellen Opoku Boamah, Principal of the College who presented the items on behalf of the school, said the donation was their Christmas gift to the children and promised to make regular visits to the home.
She also appealed to the general public to assist others during the yuletide, especially those in need and commended the staff of the school for contributing in their own small ways to make the donation possible.
Reverend Sister Gladys Boakye of the congregation of the Daughters of Most Holy Trinity, who is currently managing the home said their main focus was to give the children education in order to be useful in society.
She called on other corporate institutions and philanthropists to assist them in educating the children.
Rev. Sis Gladys appealed for support to complete an ongoing water project since according to her their only source of funds was through donations.
She expressed appreciation to the staff and management of the college for their donation, and called on other institutions and individuals to emulate the gesture especially this Christmas.
