Warrior Insight Chief Executive Officer Adam Miller told journalists in Nairobi that the real threat of terrorism makes it imperative for organizations to adapt and find new ways of defining security.
“Terror groups are now deploying modern techniques to avoid detection and this calls for organization to regularly update their security measures,” Miller said. He said that most firms use watchman to protect their premises.
“The cost of employing guards is set to increase and so most firms will not be able to afford this method of protection,” he said. He said that businesses should leverage on technology so as to rely less on labor intensive security measures.
“Technology such as Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV) with video analytics allow fewer personnel to monitor large areas in real time,” Miller said.
“Unfortunately, many firms use old technology which makes them and their employees vulnerable to insecurity incidences,” he said.
The CEO noted that enhanced security measures will ensure that security becomes less reactive and more proactive.
A study which was recently conducted jointly by Warrior Insight and Research Solutions Africa indicates that over 90 percent of businesses in Kenya have seen terrorism related risks increase in the past one year.
The survey indicated that more than 60 percent of businesses witnessed an upsurge in cyber-crime and mobile scams.
The report also finds that 75 percent of the organizations interviewed are of the view that general security has deteriorated over the past two years.
“Many organisations in Kenya still rely on security solutions of the past which involve manned guarding. This is no longer the answer to emerging security risks,” Miller said.
Globally, he said, the concept of manned guarding is disappearing and is being replaced by increasingly advanced technology- this is the space Warrior Insight wants to control with huge success.
Miller said the security company seeks to lower risks for organisations through real time security alerts and integrated risk management. Enditem
