Osun Tribunal: Security Beefed Up, as PDP Mobilises Crowd for Judgement

There is ?intensified patrol by security operatives in Osogbo and its environs?on Thursday?ahead of the judgement expected to be delivered ?today (Friday), by the?Election Tribunal Petition hearing matters arising from Osun State governorship election of?August 9th 2014,

Armed policemen and operatives of the State Security Service were seen at strategic locations in the capital of the state.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Iyiola Omisore, had dragged Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress to the tribunal, arguing that his opponent did not win the election.

While Aregbesola won the poll with 394, 284, Omisore came second with?292,747 votes during the August 2014 election.

When contacted, ?Director of the DSS in Osun State, Mr. Andrew Iorkya, said places manned have been identified as violence proned areas.

He said, ?We have identified some places which we are going to man, and NSCDC, policemen and soldiers will be on standby.? We won?t allow anybody to disturb the peace of the state.?

In a related development, the state chapter of PDP has reportedly mobilised its supporters for an expected jubilation.

It was gathered that the supporters have been supplied with a uniform that they would wear.

It was learnt that most of the supporters are being mobilised from Ile-Ife, the home town of Omisore.

“Victory is ours and we shall celebrate to the fullest?tomorrow. We are already mobilising people for the celebration and all is set, ” a chieftain of the party told Daily Times.

It would be recalled that both APC and PDP in the state had ?traded words over jubilation by some PDP supporters that Omisore had been declared winner after the last hearing.
