Senegal’s former justice minister Amadou Sall has been detained for “threatening state security and insulting the president,” judicial sources said Wednesday.

Sall who is also the lawyer of Karim Wade, the son to Senegal’s ex-president Abdoulaye Wade, currently facing charges of enriching himself illegally, has been in police detention since Tuesday.
Speaking on Monday during a meeting organized in Dakar, the former minister said “President Macky Sall will not spend a single night at the presidential palace if he imprisons Karim Wade.”
Noting that Wade’s sentence was inevitable, Amadou Sall urged his comrades in the opposition Senegalese Democratic Party to resort to “resistance.”
A specially convened court is expected to deliver a verdict on the case against Karim Wade on March 23, 2015. Enditem
