Visitors may enter Sentosa, an island resort in Singapore, for free as the city state celebrates its 50th birthday, said the Strait Times on Friday.
Visitors, who enter Sentosa via the boardwalk, will not have to pay the admission fee until Dec. 31. Those who drive or take a taxi will enjoy free entry after 5 p.m. on weekdays, excluding public holidays.
Usual admission charges for cars and taxis range from 2 Singapore dollars to 7 Singapore dollars.
Chief executive of Sentosa Development Corporation Mike Barclay said the public are encouraged to re-connect with Sentosa and enjoy beautiful beaches and public spaces on the occasion of Singapore’s 50th anniversary.
Other highlights at Sentosa include the opening of the intra- island cable car line in May, which will transport visitors around the island. Enditem
