Sassuolo won 2-1 against visiting Pescara Sunday but brought on Antonino Ragusa, a midfielder bought last week from Cesena, 20 minutes into the second half.
Sassuolo claimed a technical issue was to blame and said they were investigating the regularity of their submission of the document before appealing against the ruling. The decision halves the six points they had obtained from the first two games of the season as Pescara move to four.
