Dancehall musician Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has announced a new initiative to discover and develop budding musical talents in Ghana.
The Accra Invasion Project (AIP) initiative is designed to identify and support emerging artists in Greater Accra. The selection process will involve a panel of industry experts who will evaluate the submissions based on talent, originality, and potential for growth, helping them enhance their artistic abilities.
Shatta Wale revealed the project on his Facebook page on September 16, calling for Ghanaians to rally behind local talent. “Today, my team and I have resolved to discover talents in the capital, Greater Accra. I encourage everyone to prepare to support their local artists if their names are featured in this project,” he stated, emphasizing the potential for significant impact and inspiring support from the community.
With hashtags like #AIP, #SM, and #ShattaAndFansAlbum, the Accra Invasion Project aims to create opportunities for new talents to showcase their skills on a larger platform. This will invigorate the Ghanaian music scene as fans anticipate the emergence of the next big stars.
In addition to this initiative, Shatta Wale recently pledged GHC20,000 to support a fan with special needs for medical treatment. This act of kindness followed an interview with the fan, Samuel Akonnor, on TV3’s The Day Show, where he expressed his desire to meet Shatta Wale. Responding to the appeal, Wale was eager to assist and meet his fans, showcasing his commitment to music and community support.
