A pilot toll free short code service for monitoring reliability of service delivery by electricity distribution utilities in Ghana was launched in Accra, last Tuesday by the Energy Commission to track and monitoring utility supply giving to its cherished customers.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the weekly observer at the sideline of the launch, the Director of public relations of the energy commission Mr.Victor Owusu hinted that the GEO short code will enable customers to report power outages by sending 4455 to three telecommunicatin network in ghana such as vodafone,Tigo and Airtel respectively.
He explained further that the platform will help them in monitoring the frequency and duration of power outages from distribution of utilities in ghana.
According to him,there is a registration to fill immidiately sending name to the short code once.
Mr.Owusu stressed that Teshie has been battling with ECG for some time now so the commission come a realization that bridging the gap and to bring the service to the door steps of its cherish customers then need to create a social platform short code seems we are in a technological trend.
He advice the general public to report ECG in case of any form of unwanted outages and delay of mitre application to the offices of Public Utility Regulation commision for a redres.
Mr. Owusu said the documents would be required by the utility distributor before linking a customer to a service.
