Sierra Leone warned against widespread mental illness

Nahim told media on Thursday that the increase in the mental illness population was associated with the “country’s economic situation” and the rampant use of drugs.

He predicts that without actions taken, the mental health problems would increase to affect half of the population.

The main causes include “serious depreciation of the country’s national currency, the Leone, the high cost of living together with the poverty prevalent in the country,” according to Nahim.
