Slovakia begins Ninth Parliamentary elections

The primary results are expected to be published by the Slovak Statistics Office at 10 p.m. local time (2100 GMT) on the websites www.volbysr.sk and www.statistics.sk, while the official results will be released on Sunday morning.

The election was described by leaders and experts as the most important one in a decade, as Slovakia will hold the rotating presidency of the European Union in the second half of 2016.

The latest general election was held in March 2012, during which the left-wing Smer-SD party won the election with 44.41 percent of the votes. Enditem
