The premiere of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation drew an impressive 3.6 million viewers and has already been renewed for a second season – in an interview with Life & Style magazine, the “meatballs” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Deena Cortese talk about their return to reality TV.

“Even though we’re old, we can still have a good time,” Deena 31, exclusively tells Life & Style.

“We’re still hot messes!” Snooki, 30, adds.

Some things never change. But some do, and the ladies agree on which cast member has grown up the most since the original Jersey Shore premiered in 2009: Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. “He’s sober now,” Deena says. “He’s still a little cocky, but he’s just a better person altogether.” (Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has changed the least, they both note.)

Another thing that’s different, Snooki says, is that as a mom in her 30s, day-drinking isn’t really an option anymore. “If we drank all day then we’d have to sleep in all day to recover,” she tells Life & Style. “The hangovers were the worst.”

And although it may be a slightly more sober version of the show, Deena promises that there’s drama in “every episode!”

“We really are family and sisters and brothers [now], so there were no boundaries,” she explains to Life & Style. “We were able to just say what we wanted without worrying about if someone was never going to talk to us again.”
