Three children reportedly died on Sunday night at the residence of Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko, in Sokoto during a stampede for clothing and food.
The children were crushed to death when a large crowd or hungry and unemployed people struggled to enjoy the largesse, which was being distributed by the governor at his Gawon Nama personal residence in Sokoto.
No fewer than ten other persons were injured in the rush.
The corpses of the dead children were taken to the mortuary of the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto while the injured were also treated and discharged by doctors and nurses on duty.
